Meet the Staff

Dr. Darwin F. Lum was born and raised in Fairfield, CA. He attended UC Davis for his undergraduate and UCLA for his dental education.

Dr. Taylor Nakashima was born and raised in San Jose, California. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in psychobiology and doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry with honors. She continued her post-doctoral training at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center serving veterans and completing a year-long General Practice Residency.

With over 30 years of experience in the dental field, Mysoon brings a wealth of knowledge to her role.  She began her career as an R.D.A., where she developed a strong foundation in patient care and clinical support. She later worked for Delta Dental Insurance, giving her valuable insight into the insurance side of dentistry. Today, she uses that background to help patients navigate scheduling, insurance, and financial matters with ease and understanding. Outside of the office, Mysoon enjoys spending quality time with her family, camping, and reading.

With many years of front office experience, she has worked in both specialty and general dentistry. Before joining Lum Dental Team in 2016, she worked for Delta Dental as well as in orthodontic and periodontic practices where she developed strong skills in patient coordination, scheduling, insurance processing, and treatment planning. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events.  

With 6+ years of dental experience. She holds an active x-ray license and has worked in both periodontal and general dentistry settings, giving her a broader understanding of patient care and dental procedures. She combines her clinical knowledge with strong organizational and communication skills to support both patients and the dental team. A proud mother of two, who enjoys spending time with her family. You can find her outside enjoying the day or running her kids around to practices and activities. This allows her to fulfill her part-time roll in the office.

I have been in the dental field for over 20 years. I started as an assistant and found my passion in dental hygiene. I have been a part of Dr. Lum’s team for over 15 years. This team has allowed me to build relationships with my patients while focusing on patient education.

I graduated from Western Career College in 1996. I worked at various offices before finding my true home working with Dr. Lum. In my years working with Dr. Lum I have found that my greatest strength is supporting the patient and Doctor in complex multidisciplinary care. I also help organize the various Fairfield Study Clubs.

With over 2 years of experience providing attentive patient care and supporting dentists in delivering high quality treatment. She is skilled in chairside assisting, patient education, and maintaining efficient clinical procedures. Prior to her dental career, Elyse served in the United States Air Force. Currently, Elyse is continuing her education in dental hygiene. Outside of work, she enjoys working out, snowboarding, and spending time outdoors with her dog.
